x-men

I wouldn’t be a comic book fan if it weren’t for the X-Men. It was Xavier’s merry mutants who brought me to the dance. I loved them. I hated them. I abandoned them. I came back to them. And now, I love them again.

I was a huge fan of the 90’s X-Men animated series. The quality of the animation was just so different from all the other animated shows at the time. I bought bootleg X-Men trading cards every single day when I was in my late grade school years to expand my knowledge of the whole mutant universe. Then I saw Marvel comic books at the mall I used to frequent, and an addiction was born.

Here’s a funny story:

I’ve had several experiences before wherein I braved ridiculous traffic while ignoring hunger just to get my new comics from my LCS, only to be told that the shipment was late and I had to go back the next day. This past week though, I knew ahead of time that the shipment would be delayed. I talked to the clerks via SMS and I confirmed that the shipment was indeed late. So instead of going to the shop on Thursday, I went on Friday. But alas! I was told I had to go back Saturday after lunch! Screw that! I’ll just get it when I pick up next week’s haul. I’m lazy like that.

wolverine movie

So far, this is what we know about the Wolverine movie:

  • Hugh Jackman will be reprising his role as the title character.
  • David Benioff, the dude who wrote “Troy”, is the writer.
  • The movie is a prequel to the X-Men trilogy.
  • Academy Award winner Gavin Hood will be directing.
  • The movie will be released sometime in 2008.
  • That’s it.

There’s not a lot known about the story, but insiders say there are scenes featuring Wolverine in Vietnam, a pre-X-Men love interest, and familiar character names (at least for comic nerds) like John Wraith and Fred J. Dukes (aka The Blob). That doesn’t sound epic enough for me. Good thing I have a few ideas that may help Benioff and Hood make the movie more epic than the Bible.
