After being slightly underwhelmed by the Civil War tie-ins a couple of years ago, I swore to just stick with the main Secret Invasion book and probably pick up a couple of tie-in issues. I’ve been seriously considering breaking that oath for the past few weeks because I really want to get the SI issues of New Avengers and Mighty Avengers, and I’ve already picked up the Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four. Now, looking at Marvel’s August solicitations, I just know that I’m bound to get into most of the Secret Invasion action. Here are three minis that will drop in August that lured me into the dark side:

thor: ages of thunder

Thor likes to eat golden apples while being surrounded by naked women. That’s my kind of god, yeah!

I’ve always liked mythology. When I was kid, I used to read Greek mythologies in the nerdy confines of our school library. I loved watching movies featuring Greek gods and goddesses. Eventually, my attention was dragged away from ancient myths towards the modern myths and legends: superheroes. Last week, both ancient and modern mythologies were united for a most awesome marriage of epic battles and awe-inspiring godly mischief in Thor: Ages of Thunder, written by Matt Fraction.

This entry is part 1 of 3 in the series Monthly Haul

monthly haul #1

I read a couple of issues of Ultimates 1, but I wasn’t really thrilled with it. Late shipping didn’t help with catching my interest. Madureira on Ultimates 3 isn’t really making me want to pick up this new “season”. The art looks awesome, though.

That’s a very nice gatefold cover. It’s awesome to see Ultimate Venom and Ultimate Sabretooth together. That’s just badass. I don’t like how Ultimate Thor’s drawn, though. He looks like a giant dwarf from the Lord of the Rings. And what’s up with Ultimate Magneto? Why’s he looking at the camera when there’s an impending clash between his troops and the heroes? That Magneto, so wacky.

New Comics YAY! #6

I just realized that I need a new and decent scanner so I can scan some of the most face-rocking panels of my new comics every week. With my crappy connection, I don’t have the time and patience to search for scans online. Bah. On to the reviews!

avatar This is where Baddie blogs about comics, pop culture, and other face-rocking things. Also, this is where Dr. Doom shares some of his infinite wisdom, but only when he feels generous. You will only bear witness to Doom's brilliance when Doom commands it! Your face, Baddie and Doom are rocking it!
