First thing that came to mind was “Great. Another X-Team.” After a few nanoseconds, I was like “Jesus, this is awesome.”

The upcoming crossover between Dark Avengers and Uncanny X-Men will introduce a new team put together by Norman Osborn and led by Emma Frost. The team is a little strange for an X-Team. We have Angel who is currently running with X-Force and is one of the original X-Men.  He and Frost are the only real X-Men in this bunch. Everybody else wearing the “X” gives me that old “Well, that’s weird” feeling.

Marvel released 8 teaser images for their Dark Reign shenanigans and I must say, I like this campaign. I’ve always admired Marvel’s marketing department for coming up with interesting ads for their events like Civil War and Secret Invasion. This isn’t as clever as their previous campaigns, but it’s still interesting enough for me to dedicate a blog entry to discuss each of the images. Let’s start with quite possibly the biggest loser in Dark Reign, Tony Stark:

Yeah, that is a sad image of Iron Man’s helmet. I guess for his “failure” to prevent Secret Invasion, heads did roll. Get it? BWAHAHAHA I’m sorry.
