This entry is part 3 of 3 in the series Monthly Haul

monthly haul #3

OK, I give up. I tried it weekly. I tried it monthly. It’s just a hassle forcing myself into reviewing comics on a regular schedule. So to my self-imposed system of blogging about new comic releases, I say fuck you. I’m winging it from now on. Blogging shouldn’t feel like work. It should be fun, especially if it’s about comic books. Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, here’s a few notes on storylines that ended/started during the last month:

x-men

I wouldn’t be a comic book fan if it weren’t for the X-Men. It was Xavier’s merry mutants who brought me to the dance. I loved them. I hated them. I abandoned them. I came back to them. And now, I love them again.

I was a huge fan of the 90’s X-Men animated series. The quality of the animation was just so different from all the other animated shows at the time. I bought bootleg X-Men trading cards every single day when I was in my late grade school years to expand my knowledge of the whole mutant universe. Then I saw Marvel comic books at the mall I used to frequent, and an addiction was born.

monthly haul #2

Hm. The first two Monthly Haul opening images contain Wolverine saying “Comics!” and I swear to God it wasn’t premeditated. Anyhoo, I kind of realized that since I’m doing this monthly comic book reviews thing, I might as well do it the last week of every month. If you noticed, I’m currently doing it the third week, which is sorta weird. So the third installment of Monthly Haul will come after the last Wednesday of January. I’m sure you don’t care, so let’s just go ahead and review some comics.

monthly haul #1

I tried this reviewing-comics-every-week gig, first with Weekly Haul, and then New Comics Yay!, but it just doesn’t stick with me. I know I’m passionate enough about reading comics, but blogging about it is an entirely different thing. With the real world usually foiling my plans of writing comic book reviews every week, I’ve decided to stop. But not completely. I’ll try doing this on a monthly basis. I still believe that by reviewing comics, I’ll somehow save the world. Hasn’t happened yet, but at least I’ve inspired people. I think. Anyhoo, let’s do this!

This entry is part 2 of 12 in the series Face-Rocking Covers

Every Friday, Baddie hits you with face-rocking comic book covers that could inspire you to say either “HOLY FUCK, THAT’S AWESOME!!!” or “WTF, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!” Whether it’s the awesomest of all awesome covers that ever awesomed, or the shittiest of all crappy covers that ever took a dump, if it’s face-rocking, it’s in here.

This week, I’m feeling a little X-ish because of Endangered Species, the herald of the X-event, Messiah Complex. On that note, let me show you some early face-rocking covers of Uncanny X-Men:

polar bear versus wolverine!

Never mind the boring Colossus and Angel section and the dull A-cup Shadowcat centerpiece. Check out Storm with those tentacles, years ahead of her time! Also, Nightcrawler and Wolverine versus a freakin’ polar bear! BOO-YAH!

avatar This is where Baddie blogs about comics, pop culture, and other face-rocking things. Also, this is where Dr. Doom shares some of his infinite wisdom, but only when he feels generous. You will only bear witness to Doom's brilliance when Doom commands it! Your face, Baddie and Doom are rocking it!
