Before I got into Marvel and DC stuff, my love for the sequential art started to bloom when I was in grade school reading Filipino komiks. I especially enjoyed the horror and fantasy genre. I eventually moved on to American comics, but I’m constantly waiting for the right time to get into reading local sequential art again. And I believe that the time is nigh.
Thanks to a couple of online initiatives, Komiks is starting a new life on the web.
The Webcomic Republic is a group of Filipino web comic authors. Their initial roster is an awesome bunch: Jonas Diego, Gerry Alanguilan, Ariel Atienza, Rey Villegas, Laguna Teddy Pavon, and Laurento Jovito Fua offer stories of action, drama, humor, horror, and possibly any other genre that you can think of.
