Greetings from Manila, Philippines!

Today, we’re celebrating 110 years of Philippine Independence. To commemorate this awesome anniversary, I think it’s just appropriate that I introduce to you Marvel’s first Filipino super-team, the Triumph Division, that debuted last week in Invincible Iron Man #2!

This entry is part 1 of 3 in the series Astonishing Moments

In honor of the recently concluded Astonishing X-Men run by my favorite creative team of all time, Joss Whedon and John Cassaday, I bring you a blog series called Astonishing Moments in which I’ll feature some of the most astonishing (DUH) scenes and moments of the run. There are a lot, so let’s get started. First up, a panel that established the creative team’s love for X-Men history:

In that one panel, we saw how Kitty Pryde has grown up. It was also a harbinger of the fact that Whedon and Cassaday’s run is practically Kitty-centric. And yes, one fact was clearly emphasized: PROFESSOR XAVIER IS A JERK!

I’ve said a lot about Jeff Parker and how he rocks my face every month with X-Men: First Class. With the title’s most recent issue, I just realized that there’s one more reason why I love it: Colleen Coover. The All-Angel issue features a backup drawn by Ms. Coover and I can say that it’s the best XFC Coover backup so far. The two-page Angel story just melted my heart with its cuteness. Just look at that cute little mutant!

Awww. Widdle Warren bothered by the wings on his back? Awww.

Ahem. Next time on Face Rockery: MANLY MACHO STUFF! YEAH! GRRR!

The new Guardians of the Galaxy ongoing series has just launched a couple of weeks ago, and it was all I expected it to be. Chief among my hopes for the new series is the inclusion of Star-Lord’s crew from his mini-series. We have Groot, Mantis, and the most awesome talking raccoon in the history of all time and space, Rocket Raccoon! Trust me, my friends, this book’s a keeper. If you’re not thinking of reading this book, YOU’RE INSANE! Now let me give you 5 mind-blowing reasons to read it:

1. It has a raccoon with a machine gun. A MACHINE GUN!

avatar This is where Baddie blogs about comics, pop culture, and other face-rocking things. Also, this is where Dr. Doom shares some of his infinite wisdom, but only when he feels generous. You will only bear witness to Doom's brilliance when Doom commands it! Your face, Baddie and Doom are rocking it!
