If you’re anything like me, I love browsing through my feeds, scouring for interesting news all over the Internet. It’s a dirty job, but it’s worth it when I find those face-rocking news items. I’m here now to share to you comics and pop culture news that I found this week. This is actually me continuing what I started with Comics News Roundup, only more pop culture-y.
ITEM! Heath Ledger posthumously received the Golden Globe award for Best Supporting Actor! It was for his legendary role as the Joker in The Dark Knight, which I’ve already watched a bajirrion times. Nerds all over the Internet are now hoping for an Oscar. FOR HEATH!
ITEM! First OFFICIAL Winnie the Pooh story in 80+ years! The first authorized sequel to “Winnie the Pooh and the House at Pooh Corner” is entitled “Return to the Hundred Acre Wood” and will be released on October 5th, 2009. I haven’t read the original, but hey. Maybe it’s time that I do.
ITEM! Patrick McGoohan and Ricardo Montalban passed away. Rest in peace, legends of Geekdom.
ITEM! Samuel L. Muddafucken’ Jackson may not be Nick Fury in the upcoming Marvel movies! You know what? I’m not even bothered by this piece of news. I prefer the classic Nick Fury look. Hell, I’m even game for The Hoff to play the role again. Or maybe not.
ITEM! Demand is seriously high for Amazing Spider-Man #583, the Obama issue! The Obama variant of the issue has actually caused a not so awesome event involving a comic shop clerk and non-comic book folk. And that’s just sad.
ITEM! Kieran Culkin is Wallace Wells in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World! I don’t know about the casting, but I’m definitely interested in seeing the movie since I’ve heard a lot of good things about the graphic novels. Actually, I think I’m going to pick up the graphic novels first before I make a call about the movie.
ITEM! The Watchmen movie is a go! I don’t know and I don’t give a shit about the details. As long as the March 6th release date will push through, I’m good. Fuckin’ corporations playing corporation games. Feh.
ITEM! Emily Blunt in talks to play the Black Widow in Iron Man 2! Yes, the hot bitch from The Devil Wears Prada may soon don the sexy black leather of the Soviet superhot superspy, Natasha Romanov. I say YES.
