After being slightly underwhelmed by the Civil War tie-ins a couple of years ago, I swore to just stick with the main Secret Invasion book and probably pick up a couple of tie-in issues. I’ve been seriously considering breaking that oath for the past few weeks because I really want to get the SI issues of New Avengers and Mighty Avengers, and I’ve already picked up the Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four. Now, looking at Marvel’s August solicitations, I just know that I’m bound to get into most of the Secret Invasion action. Here are three minis that will drop in August that lured me into the dark side:
Secret Invasion: Inhumans - Come on. Just look at that gorgeous Stephan Seijic cover. I’d buy the first issue just for that sweet cover. Plus, I’ve been waiting for the resolution of Black Bolt’s situation ever since it was revealed that he was replaced by a Skrull during the events of New Avengers: Illuminati. I also read Silent War, and I’ve been a fan of the Inhumans ever since. Joe Pokaski, a writer for a little show called “Heroes”, is the writer. This should be interesting.
Secret Invasion: Thor and Secret Invasion: X-Men - I didn’t even have to read the whole solicitations for these two titles. All I needed to know was that there’s an alien invasion and Thor and the X-Men are going to kick major Skrull butt. Also, Matt Fraction, Doug Braithwaite, and Gabriele Dell’Otto will be handling the Thor mini. That’s an awesome combo of talent right there. One more thing made the Thor mini sound awesome, and that’s the return of Beta Ray frickin’ Bill! Seriously, you guys! This will rock everything in its path! And let’s not forget about the X-Men mini. The invading Skrulls take on Cyclops’ army of X-Men, and it will be brought to us by Mike Carey and the amazing Cary Nord, with sexy covers by Terry Dodson!
