Sometimes, you just have to know what comics bloggers are saying about… I dunno… Joe Quesada and Dan Didio allegedly having midnight sword fights to determine who’ll be the next ruler of Hell? And what better way to do this than to seek the help of search engines, right? Wrong. You can do better. You can Ask Cerebra.

Ask Cerebra is a search engine project by Kevin Church; comics writer by day, drinking buddy of Lawyerbear by night.
It’s pretty obvious that it’s best to use Ask Cerebra instead of other search engines like Google Blog Search when looking for comics blog entries. But this little bit of common sense won’t stop me from comparing the #1 search results for sample search terms between Ask Cerebra and Google Blog Search.
Search term: “cerebra”
Yes, it’s meta-ish, but it makes me look smarter this way. GBS gave me an article about Cerebra Tech, a Bangalore-based hardware and software solutions company that has cleared all its debts. AC gave me a blog post about Ask Cerebra by Mike Rhode, coauthor of the Comics Research Bibliography. AC – 1, GBS – 0.
Search term: “dr. doom”
GBS brought me to a South Florida Lawyers blog post that put me to sleep before I finished reading the first sentence, while AC brought me to Mike Sterling’s blog. The blog post? Doctor Doom’s Top Ten Euphemisms for Sex. AC – 2, GBS – 0.
Search term: “how to punch a shark in the face”
Well how about that? GBS gave me a comics-related blog post that talks about the Scott Pilgrim movie and people’s ability to suspend their disbelief. Surely, this will earn GBS a point, right? Wrong. AC gave me Misty Knight punching a shark in the face, courtesy of Chris Sims.
With a decisive 3-0 win, Ask Cerebra should be your first online stop if you’re looking for some comics blog goodness. If you’re a comics blogger, you might want to contact Mr. Church so your blog can be crawled. Or probed. Whatever. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to write my own take on this whole Didio-Quesada sword fights for the rule of Hell issue.

Oye! This is cool! Gotta learn this.
AHALAVET!
High five, guys!
