Wonder Woman: The Circle
After being let down by Wonder Woman’s relaunch under the guidance of writer Allan Heinberg, I swore I’ll never pick up the series again. And then Gail Simone took a shot at the Amazon Princess. I ate my words.

The Circle is Simone’s first arc on WW, and I have to say, I love it. Two reasons:

1. White gorilla knights serving as Diana’s private primate army.

2. Wonder Woman kicking Nazi ass.
I love how Simone added something to the WW mythology without doing vile retcons. The story of Hippolyta’s personal guard was both intriguing and tragic. Will we see those four Amazons again? What is up with that golden eagle? Will the gorilla knights stick around? I am now officially hooked. HOOKED I TELLS YA!
Too bad the Dodsons are leaving the book because their rendition of Wonder Woman is my favorite. They make her look so elegant and sexy and strong and badass. A longer Simone/Dodsons run would’ve been awesome.

The only thing that still needs improvement is Diana’s alter ego and supporting cast. The whole Agent of the Department of Metahuman Affairs thing just doesn’t do it for me. Simone needs to do something really interesting with Diana’s supporting cast or she should just take Diana out of that government agency.
Bottom line is, The Circle is a good start for a hopefully long Gail Simone run on Wonder Woman. Ain’t that right, princess?

"White gorilla knights." How many times you get to say that in a sentence?

I know right?! And don’t forget "private primate army".

Yess… Marry me Gail…
Sheeesh.. I cringe everytime I remember all those wasted issues featuring the Dodson’s art. Sad, really.
